Increasing of the lifting capacity range to 6300 kg: GIS launches LP1600 and LP2500 electric chain hoists

The Swiss manufacturer GIS is investing in the future and expanding its successful LP series of electric chain hoists with the LP1600 and LP2500 motors. A lifting capacity range of up to 6300 kg can now be covered. For holding loads above people (D8 Plus), the LP2500 enables a previously unattainable lifting capacity of 2500 kg in a 1 fall version. At the same time, the new GHF/GMF generation of manual and motorised trolleys is being launched.

The Swiss electric chain hoist manufacturer GIS is expanding the very successfully introduced LP motor series with the two additional LP1600 and LP2500 models for the upper lifting capacity range. The company has been developing and manufacturing electric chain hoists for 55 years and supplying motors to the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. The LP2500 is a first in the company's history, as it enables an increase in capacity from the current 5000 kg to a maximum of 6300 kg (D8). Used for holding loads above persons without secondary safety component (D8 Plus), the LP2500 in 1 fall version lifts a proud 2500 kg. Thanks to this 25% increase in capacity compared with the 2000 kg commonly found on the market, the number of suspension points and group hoists used can be reduced accordingly, which has a positive effect on the costs of the project. For scenic use in compliance with C1 regulations, the maximum lifting capacity is 2000 kg, with a static chain safety factor of at least 10:1. The LP1600 completes the LP series with maximum capacities of 2500 kg (D8), 1600 kg (D8+) and 1250 kg (C1). It ranges from the 13 kg light LPM250 for 250 kg lifting capacity in the D8 Plus version to the two powerhouses available from July.

This striking leap in performance is made possible, among other things, by the case-hardened, manganese phosphated profile steel chain. In comparison to the conventional round steel chain, it offers a 15 % greater load-bearing capacity with the same nominal diameter. As with the existing LP models, protection class IP65 is standard, guaranteeing both dust-tightness and protection against water jets. With its compact, robust design, every LP chain hoist is suitable for outdoor applications, even under difficult conditions. The self-contained, helical geared 3-stage transmission with permanent grease lubrication ensures the quietest possible operation. The powerful flange-mounted motor with high power reserve ensures excellent synchronisation for group trips. Particular attention was paid during development to modularity and low maintenance requirements with ready accessibility of the wearing parts. All shaft-hub connections are designed like this in a self-centring polygonal design. Disassembly and assembly during maintenance work are therefore faster and require no special tools, which reduces service costs.

A second brake can be easily mounted on the existing shaft without the need for a housing extension.

The LP1600 and LP2500, which can be used as climbing or stationary hoists, can easily be supplemented with incremental as well as absolute encoders for path measurement, load sensors, temperature or brake monitoring. The two motors can thus be excellently configured in accordance with the application and country-specific requirements.

At the same time as expanding the chain hoist series, the Swiss company is launching its new trolley generation consisting of manual (GHF model) and motorised trolleys (GMF model). Available in 4 sizes, they are optimally adapted to the LP motors, for lifting capacities up to 6300 kg. The push trolley with manual parking brake is available especially for the entertainment industry.

“Made in Switzerland”, both the LP series electric chain hoists and the GHF/GMF trolleys offer the perfect combination of functionality, reliability and durability. Compared to the previous models, these units are designed for up to 4 times the service life. This is guaranteed by an extended warranty of 3 years.
